uniform vs. nonuniform motion

This meeting was actually focused on Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and there wasn’t specific time set aside for lesson study. Dana had taught the lesson with the new revisions from the summer before. The actual lab was changed to involve the motion of people instead of marbles. This helped tremendously by allowing students to deal with the concept of error, which was too difficult to measure, much less discuss, with the marbles. We also eliminated the velocity vs. time graph because it was not useful and even caused further student confusion. When Dana taught the lesson without this graph the students were able to pick out the patterns that addressed the overall goal. Overall, this lesson was awesome compared to the first time it was taught. A lot of work went into its development and it was very gratifying to see it succeed.
